Chickens for Shabbos (Oif L'Shabbos) is a tzedakah under the auspices
of Rabbi Fabian Schonfeld, Mara D'Asra of the Young Israel of Kew
Gardens Hills and Rabbi Doniel Lander, Rosh Hayeshiva of Yeshivas Ohr
Hachaim.
Chickens for Shabbos (Of L'Shabbos) is an organization that helps
alleviate the terrible financial woes of so many families in the
poverty-stricken communities of Israel whose economic distress is
difficult to describe. In America, two of the most active
participants in this truly great effort and, indeed, the driving
force behind it are Rabbi Fabian Schonfeld Sh'lita, Rabbi of Young
Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, and Mr. Robert Neuman t"yhka. In Israel
the main activists are two young wonderful men by the name of Shlomo
Zalman Ellinson from England and Chaim Puretz from Flatbush, both
studying at the Yeshiva in Brisk. Sometime ago they became aware of
the terrible plight of hundreds of families living in Yerushalayim
who literally find it impossible to put food on the table. Some of
these unfortunate families have a large number of children and
grandchildren whose average Shabbos meals consist of tuna fish and
cottage cheese.
Please note that not a single individual is being compensated nor
does anyone drive any personal gain from this great Pikuach Nefesh
activity. Every penny that you contribute literally puts food on a
family's table. If you wish to help with this tremendous effort you
may mail your tax deductible check to:
