Gush Katif Meeting at YI of KGH

The Emergency Relief Committee for Gush Katif presents Experience Gush Katif (at YI of KGH)

For us it may be over. For the families of Gush Katif, it's just the beginning?

featuring Assemblyman Dov Hikind,
Rivka Schuman, a resident of Kochav HaShachar, a community in the West Bank
Introductory remarks by Rabbi Fabian Schonfeld
A panel will follow

Monday August 29th at 8:30 pm
Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills
150-05 70th Rd.

MYTH ...The Jews of Gush Katif have been well compensated for their move.

FACT.... Not one family has yet received a shekel. Most of these proud homeowners are now living in scattered hotels like squatters with no government assistance.

Hear from our panel why in fact our support is needed now.

Donations from your generous contributions will go directly to the families of Gush Katif and the institutions they must now rebuild.

OU/IPA Action Alert - Daylight Savings Time Change

Please open this link to an IPA Action Alert on a proposal to extend Daylight Savings Time by two months each year, which the IPA is urging you to oppose:

In addition to the fact that children will need to wait in the dark for school buses etc., and the problems this would cause US transportation industries, it will also make it extremely difficult (and at times impossible) to daven Shacharis before getting to work (this is especially so in certain parts of the US, like Detroit).

The Alert has a sample email and the emails of the four most key people in the Senate/House to contact, though we are asking that everyone CC their own Senators (a link to the Senate/House contact information pages is provided in the alert as well).

Thank you.

Tefillas Ha'Sheloh - Tomorrow - Erev Rosh Chodesh Sivan (Tuesday, June 7

All parents want the best for their children — that they should be good and upright, that they have everything they need for a fruitful, joyous life.

The classic work, Shelah HaKadosh, contains a prayer that parents should recite for their children at any time of the year — but especially on the day before Rosh Chodesh Sivan, for that is the month when God gave us the Torah, and when the Jewish people began to be called His Children. On that day, he writes, fathers and mothers should give charity to the poor and repent. They should even fast, if they are able to.

You can download a copy of the Tefilla here
