Shul Projects Update

Dear Members and Mispallelim:

Thank you for coming out in such great numbers to our 25th anniversary Melava Malka in honor our Rav and Rebbetzin and for helping to make the evening a great success and Kiddush Hashem.

We are writing to follow up and seek your participation in the two exciting projects that were announced at the Melava Malka. In a unique and warm display of appreciation for our beloved Rav and Rebbetzin, who have given so much to our Kehilla over the past quarter century, our Mispallelim have launched a joint effort for a Ksivas Sefer Torah for the Rav and a Siyum Hashas project. IY"H, we hope to have the Hachnosas Sefer Torah and Siyum prior to next Rosh Hashanah (Sept. 2007).

The following is an update with pertinent contact information and project details:

1. Ksivas Sefer Torah:

B"H, the initial response has been overwhelming and many Parshiyos have already been pledged. A Sofer has been retained and the writing has begun.

At this time, a select number of Parshas ($1,000) and Special Parshas ($500) remain open. There are also dedication opportunities available for Perakim ($180), Pesukim ($100), Words ($36) and Letters ($18).

For further information, please contact Shragie Aranoff (516-817-2760 or shragie@att.net) or Shmuel Kazarnovsky (917-468-0944 or skaz@renltc.com).

Check may be made payable to the Shul ("Cong. Ohel Yitzchok") and left with the Rav or the Gabbaim. Please note on the check "Sefer Torah Project."

2. Siyum Hashas:

We are planning to complete the entire Talmud Bavli and, IY"H, make a Siyum Hashas concurrent with the Hachnosas Sefer Torah. For convenience sake, we are dividing Shas by Artscroll's 73 volumes, each containing approximately 40 blatt. This works out to learning just over one Blatt per week, hopefully not too arduous a commitment. To see which volumes have already been reserved go to http://mysite.verizon.net/jfaska/shul/siyum.pdf

For further information or to reserve a volume/mesechta, please contact Joey Faska (718-261-7391 or jfaska@yahoo.com) or Ephraim Berger (718-263-2138 or ephberger@aol.com).

We hope you will join our Kehilla in both of these ambitious projects, and we welcome your input and suggestions.
